Step by Step Top Down Sweater Class
$80 – 4 Sessions plus materials
Cast on and learn all the techniques you need to make your first top down sweater! The Step by Step Sweater by Florence Miller iis a simple raglan sweater with no complicated techniques, perfect as your first garment knitting project. It has a relaxed fit and two options for the neckline. Optional short row shaping is included. The yoke is then divided to create both the body and sleeves, which are finished separately. It is a simple yet stylish top-down seamless raglan sweater.
Choose your preferred length, neckline, and fit options. As it’s knitted from top to down, you can try it on while knitting and choose the length that suits your body.

Measurements:
Approximately 90 (100, 110, 120) (130, 140, 150) cm finished garment bust
measurement after washing and blocking.
Please take the chest measurement of a sweater that fits the way you want your sweater to fit.
We will be covering gauge, swatching, positive/negative ease, short rows and knitting using the magic loop method.
Required experience: Beginner. Students must know how to knit and purl.
Supplies and pattern (not included in the cost of the class):
Yardage:
738 (820, 984, 1066) (1230, 1312, 1476) yards
Aran weight yarn or Mohair and DK or light worsted held together can be used. If you choose Mohair and DK weight yarn, you will need the yardage in both yarns.
Needles:
For neck, cuff, and body ribbing: 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles (40cm and 80cm lengths)
For yoke, body, and sleeves: 5.5 mm (US 9) circular needles (40cm and 80 or 100cm lengths)
Alternatively, you can use the Magic Loop technique and work with one needle length of 80-100 cm (32-40 inches).
Gauge:
16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on 5.5 mm needles
