Beginner Knit 1 - Scrunchie Bag by Loupy Studio with Vivien Yin
$80 – 4 sessions plus materials
Learn the building blocks to start your knitting journey! This class will teach you how to knit, purl, cast on (using the long tail cast on method), to bind off, to create an i-cord edge, and invisible seaming using mattress stitch. Welcome to individuals who have never touched a pair of needles to seasoned knitting experts; you will walk away with an arsenal of skills to use in your knitting career and a cute, (your) hand(s)made accessory!
Yarn
150 m of two colours of DK weight yarn*
Additional - 2 m of paracord** or ribbon
-
If you would like a denser fabric for your finished object, a heavier weight yarn can be used though this may affect the total amount of yarn needed, or if you would like a longer strap, additional meterage will be required
** The pattern states to use 2 m of paracord but additional length is encouraged based on comments from other makers on Ravelry. Note, increasing the bag strap length will result in the need for additional length in the paracord needed.
Needles
5.0 mm (US 9) knitting needles
Gauge
15 stitches and 25 rows in 10 cm x 10 cm (unblocked)***
*** Meeting gauge is not crucial to this project.
Notions
Stitch markers, a darning needle or 4 mm crochet hook
Vivien's progress on the Scrunchie Bag (Knit) using Estelle Eco Shetland Worsted in Cranberry and Noro Kureyon in Miyama
Saturdays, November 15, 22, 29 & Dec 6 - 1 to 3 pm
Pickup available at 12045 Ducharme Lane and is usually ready the next day.
