Thank you to everyone who came out and made the first ever LYS Day (Local Yarn Store Day) such a success and an awesome yarn love party on April 21st! Thank you all for all of your support! It was quite a party with coffee, tea and the cake Ed bought that said "Happy Birthday!" Dinah posted a video of the event but unfortunately, I don't know how to share it and no one else thought to take photos to post. A special shout out to both Kathy and Jean for all their help!

On another note, there has been a lot of confusion over my email about Important Changes...Yes, you can come just like you always have to see and touch the squishy yarn in my "showroom" and pick up centre. The change will be that your purchases must be purchased online whether that is from your cell phone or my iPad or my computer and paid online with Paypal or Stripe (my payment provider). Registering your account simplifies your next visit! I apologize in advance but I hope that you will all understand and accept these changes. Hours for the Showroom and Pickup Centre will remain the same; Knit Afternoons and Knit Night will also remain unchanged.
FREE PATTERNS
Do you have an event to go to, a wedding perhaps? Glitz at the Ritz by Helen Stewart is a shawlette designed to be knitted from just one skein of sock weight yarn. This could make an ideal first time project for lace and bead knitting as the lace patterns in the shawl are quite straightforward. The elongated triangular shape drapes beautifully around the shoulders while the beads add gorgeous glamour. It calls for 4.0 mm (US 6) needles for a gauge of 20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch using one skein of fingering weight yarn with about 437 yards. Knit it with Manos del Uruguay Fino and Miyuki beads!
While the Hitofude Cardigan by Hiroko Fukatsu is not a free pattern, it is 200jpy which works out to be about $2.44! I knit this awhile back but this is one pattern that I would love to knit again. I loved the construction and while I don't usually like a shrug style cardigan which this is, this one I do.
“Hitofude” means a single brush stroke in Japanese, this open front cardigan with an allover lace pattern is worked in one “yarn stroke” -- a continuous strand without cutting the yarn. The yarn stroke starts from the upper body and sleeves worked together in a rectangular piece, then moves to lower body, where the lace pattern increases evenly, creating a gentle drape. Knit it witha fingering yarn knit at a gauge of 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in the lace pattern using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
