When I look at the fields behind my house, the trees have not started to change and it is still too hot and humid out to feel like fall but my fall wreath which is ancient but can still grace my front door!
Time to start a shawl! Although, when is it not a good time to work on a shawl?? Cathy recently finished this beauty!
Cathy’s Linientreu by Ute Nawratil is a semicircular shawl, alternating equilateral triangles and simple garter stitch rows. The triangle modules are joined by knitting (no sewing necessary!) The right triangles at the border edge result from short rows. You can use any yarn with short gradients in a fingering weight using 3.75 mm (US 5) needles. You will need 1258 - 1367 yards (1150 - 1250 m) of yarn. Cathy used Lang Mille Colori Baby and Regia 4 Ply for hers.

Fall is the perfect time to knit or crochet some fingerless mitts to wear. Pieces of Eight Mitts by Sybil R of Knitting and so on are knit in one piece starting with the thumb!
These mitts form a “figure eight” shape around the thumb by increasing in the first part of a row and decreasing in the second part. The free pattern includes illustrations showing construction. You will need 164 - 219 yards (150 - 200 m) of fingering weight yarn and 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles.
Octavo Fingerless Gloves by Sybil R is her crochet version of her Pieces of Eight Mitts.
For the crocheted Octavo Fingerless Gloves, you will need 208 - 262 yards (190 - 240 m) of fingering yarn and a 3.00 mm crochet hook.
WIP's and FO's
I posted a teaser on Instagram and Facebook of my Zweig sweater's progress! I can't wait to finish so that I can wear it for real! Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks is truly talented - I love her Zweig.
Really looks like my Zweig is off my needles but wait! I still have one more sleeve to knit!!
Last week, I cast on the Ninilchik Swoncho by Caitlin Hunter in anticipation for the Colourwork Class which has been re-scheduled to Sundays starting October 21st from 10 am to 12 pm.
I modified my Ninilchik to give it a turtleneck - I really didn’t want to hide any of it with a scarf or cowl!! While it is difficult to do, I am setting this aside until I the class starts! If you want to join the three already signed up, register soon!
