Beginner Basket Weaving with Louise MacDougall

The market basket is a beginner class. All tools and material will be supplied.
In this class, you will learn the basics to create this beautiful functional basket. The first thing you will do what is wet the reed to make it pliable. The spokes will be laid out horizontally. then the vertical spokes woven in along with the handle. This will be the base. The spokes will be upset, and woven around. The rim of the basket is braided seagrass. This gives a basket, some texture, and is easy on the hands.
I recommend wearing an apron and bring an old towel to place on your lap as you weave.
This class takes about 8 hours but maybe shorter. I like to give you the time to finish. Please bring your lunch.
