Jólaskjól by Védís Jónsdóttir for Ístex Colourwork and Steeking Class
$80 – 4 Sessions plus materials
Jen along with others have been wanting to knit this after seeing the one I knit every Christmas. With the bigger gauge, this is a great project to learn how to knit stranded colourwork and steeking.
The Holiday tree gets its own "Lopapeysa“. This tree skirt is designed with Nordic homes in mind that celebrate life, winter solstice and Christmas.
The tree skirt is worked in the round starting from the larger outermost edge and decreasing in circumference to the centre edge. Round begins and ends with a purl st for the steek. The opening is cut open after securing the seek. This course takes knitters through all the techniques required to make this steeked colourwork holiday tree skirt.
Materials: Pattern is required for the Ravelry pattern for this class from Ravelry HERE.
I will need to pre-order the yarn for this class so register early and put in the notes whether you want the green or the red kit.
Finished Size: Diameter - 122 cm. Length from cast on edge to bind off - 56 cm.
Needles:
6.0 mm (US 10) interchangeable needles (100cm and longer lengths)
You will want to join two (2) long cables together for the outermost cast on.
Gauge: 13 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette
Kits available HERE. Pattern can be purchased HERE.
Saturdays, October 24, 31, November 14 and 21 – 11:30 to 1:30 pm
Pickup available at 12045 Ducharme Lane and is usually ready the next day.
