Friendship Shawl Kits
The Friendship Shawl this fun boomerang shaped shawl knit out of Dos Tierras, a 50/50 blend of alpaca & merino with a nice, tight twist for the 2024 Malabrigo KAL. While the designer, Jill Tamminen, chose 3 distinct colors of this squishy yarn, the design is so fluid that each knitter can choose between 1, 2, or 3 colors depending on their desires. This Knit Along is inspired by friendships, so feel free to select colors for your bestie and gift the shawl for a late spring break gift.
RECOMMENDED YARN: Dos Tierras by Malabrigo (50% Merino Wool / 50% Baby Alpaca; 100g/210yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color. Shown in Pearl, Sunset & Diana.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 64” wingspan x 35" width at bind-off edge, after blocking without stretching
YARDAGE: 600 total yds
SKILL LEVEL: Easy - garter stitch, increases, YO to make eyelets.
NEEDLES: Size US 7 / 4.5mm 32-40" circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Tapestry needle & optional pins for blocking
GAUGE: 20 sts x 48 rows = 4" in garter stitch, after blocking without stretching. Gauge is not crucial for this project, but will affect yardage and finished size if different from above.
