It has cooled down considerably out there especially our mornings and evenings. It is definitely sweater weather! Did you know that there are only 8 more weeks until Christmas?

A jacket or cardigan is a must to layer on and remove as the day warms up. The Petra Jacket by PetiteKnit is worked from the top down. First, the back yoke is worked back and forth on the needle with increases. Then the shoulders are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the back yoke. Stitches are then picked up and knitted along the shoulders, so all of the stitches are sitting on the circular needle and can be worked back and forth – first with increases for the sleeves and then with raglan increases. The body is worked back and forth on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on a circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. At the end, double-knitted front plackets are worked along the front edges, and then a collar is worked in rib.
Knit a swatch to determine which needle size gives you the correct gauge. Make sure to wash your swatch before taking the gauge measurements.
Size guide
The Petra Jacket neck is designed to have approx. 22 cm [8¾ inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be approx. 22 cm [8¾ inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) are designed to fit a bust circumference of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm [29½-31½ (31½-33½) 33½-35½ (35½ 37½) 37½-39½ (39½-43¼) 43¼-47¼ (47¼-51¼) 51¼-55 (55-59) inches]. The measurements for the finished jacket are listed on the front page of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the correct gauge is maintained throughout). Measure yourself before beginning your project to determine which size will fit you the best. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body), you should knit a size S. A jacket in size S has a bust circumference of 112 cm [44 inches] which in the given example would give you 22 cm [8½ inches] of positive ease.

Do you like Joji Locatelli's gorgeous shawl designs? The Open Up Mystery Shawl by Joji Locatelli is her second One Skein Mystery Shawl Knit-Along! This edition will take place in November 2026.
Let’s knit a beautiful shawl together and enjoy a month of knitting along.
Here’s everything you need to get ready for this MKAL, but keep in mind that it is a mystery, after all, so I can’t spoil you the surprise by giving you too much information!
Shape: This will be an irregular, elongated triangle.
Approx. finished measurements: 80” (200 cm) x 22” (55 cm).
Note: Some of you might wonder if it’s possible to make it larger in order to use a larger amount of yarn. This design is not easy to modify in size, so no, it can’t be made larger or smaller.
Work load: This is a small, one-skein shawl, and each clue should be manageable within a week. Some sections require focus and row counting, so it isn’t a mindless project. However, it is beginner-friendly. There is no brioche and there are no short-rows in this design.
CLUES
There are 4 clues to be revealed and they will be delivered the following days:
clue 1 - Nov 1
clue 2 - Nov 7
clue 3 - Nov 13
clue 4 - Nov 19
How are the clues delivered?
If you purchase the pattern through Ravelry, each clue will be sent as a pattern update. You’ll receive a notification by email or Ravelry message, and you can download each new clue from your Ravelry library.
The complete shawl will be revealed and published as Open Up on December 10. After the MKAL, the pattern will be available at its regular price ($7).
YARN
1 skein of fingering-weight yarn, approximately 420 yd (384 m). The design uses nearly all of the yarn, so choose a skein with a little extra yardage if possible.
She used 1 skein of Tosh Merino Light by Madelinetosh, 100% Merino, 420 yd (384) m
This shawl design works best with yarns that are not too busy. Solids, semisolids and lightly speckled yarns are ideal! You can also use variegated and multicolored yarns, but some details of your work might not show so well.
NEEDLES
3.75 mm (US 5) needles. You can use circular or straight ones. If you are a loose knitter, I’d advise you to go down to 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
GAUGE
20 sts and 36 rows to 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, after blocking.

Each year, the collection is shaped by a theme. This year, it’s just two words.
Candlelight and company.
That’s the heart of Knitvent 2026, inspired by the kind of season I’m craving right now. Not the holidays as they appear in the movies, or in the shop windows, or in anyone else’s idea of what celebration should look like. I’m dreaming of comfort and ease. A cosy room with a few favourite people in it. A few candles flickering on the table. Conversation rich in shared history, sprinkled with inside jokes and punctuated by companionable silences. Simple moments of shared happiness.
The six secret designs in this year’s collection are made for those moments, and the people who belong in them. Sweet, giftable accessories that bring as much joy in the making as they do in the giving, and one grand scrappy design, waiting to make the most of 24 mini skeins in an advent calendar set, or all those cherished leftovers you’ve been keeping for something worthy of them.
Whether you’re making for the people gathered around your own table, sending warmth to someone who can’t be there in person, or knitting for yourself and the sheer joy of it, there’s something in this Knitvent for you.
Six secret patterns. Five festive weeks. A season of celebrating your own instinct for joy.
FOs and WIPs

Last Friday, I had one sleeve of my Juledrømmen (Christmas Dream) by Frksiljestrikk finished. The pattern had you knit the i-cord bind off on the sleeve holding two strands of the Paljett (sequins) but I knit the i-cord holding the two main yarns together.

After finishing the second sleeve, I forgot that I still needed to work the i-cord around the neck and thought I was finished! I ran out of the Sandnes Garn Ballerina on the sleeve so for the neck i-cord I knit it using the Sandnes Garn Paljett held double.

What a beautiful and sparkly sweater it is! The mohair is a great quality that the sweater just seems to float on me. The only part that bothers me is the neck i-cord where I held the sequin yarn double withot the mohair.
The one thing that you need to keep in mindwhen knitting with sequins is to cut off the bigger sequins before sewing in your ends.

Yesterday, I cast on my Dragonfly Sweater by Elenor Mortensen. I am knitting it using the Life in the Long Grass Sport that I bought from Stolen Stitches by Carol Feller when I was in Cork, Ireland during the Knit, Purl Cruise.

SHOP UPDATE

A big re-stock of Hedgehog Fibers Sock and Hedgehog Tweedy arrived this week. Check out all of the fabulous colours!

NEW!! Garnstudio Drops Nepal in 11 colours has arrived.
DROPS Nepal is a chunky and luxurious yarn, spun in 35% superfine alpaca and 65% wool, a mix that accentuates the softness of alpaca while the wool contributes to the garments’ shape stability. Both fibers are untreated, which means that they are only washed and not exposed to any chemical treatment prior to the dyeing. This highlights the fibers’ natural properties, providing also a better shape and texture qualities.
Spun from 3 strands, which gives an exciting and rustic stitch definition, DROPS Nepal is an easily knitted/crocheted quality which is also ideal for felting, resulting in garments that have an even and soft surface.
DROPS Nepal contains mixed colours, this means the wool is manufactured by carding the colours together before spinning, which gives it a mixed effect.

- 4 Ply DK / worsted
- 82 yards (75 meters) per 50 grams (1.76 ounces)

NEW!! Novita 7 Brothers - 7 Veljestä in 9 colours has arrived!
Finland’s best-selling sock yarn has now been updated. For many decades now, Novita 7 Veljestä has been the best known and best loved yarn among Finnish knitters, and deservedly so. Its popularity is due to its carefully crafted composition and twist, which makes it suitable for a wide range of projects.
It now contains more wool, making it even bouncier and better to work with. 7 Veljestä is made of 80% wonderfully warming wool with 20% polyamide to make it more hardwearing.
7 Brothers from Novita is a classic aran weight yarn suitable for all types of projects. Named after a Finnish novel written in 1870, it tells the tale of seven orphaned brothers. One ball is enough to make a basic pair of women's socks.
- 80% wool, 20% polyamide

NEW!! Kremke Soul Reborn Wool Recycled in 5 colours has arrived!
eborn Wool Recycled is another contribution to the slow fashion movement! With a wooly and natural feeling, and rich colours that have a somewhat tweed-like effect, this yarn makes the most of post-consumer recycled textiles. Made from a blend of recycled wool garments, recycled polyster sourced from PET bottles, and nylon, it is perfect for clothing and accessories with a classic look. Machine washable, lay flat to dry.
The touch of the yarn is nice, soft and woolly and not at all artificial. The colors look very natural and some have a kind of tweed effect. The thickness and character of the thread makes it very easy to knit with.
