Can you believe that we are past mid-October with Halloween next week! Christmas is going to be here before we know it...Have you started your gift knitting or sweater weather knits? The past few days have been so blustery out that cozy knits are a must!
The Lumme pullover by Sari Nordlund was named after the Finnish word for a water lily. I was inspired by the murky and dark waters of Finnish forest ponds and the contrast they create with white water lilies.
The Lumme pullover is knitted seamlessly top-down starting at the neckband. The sleeves and body are separated at the underarm and knitted separately.
The yoke is knitted in stranded colorwork with increases incorporated into the pattern. Choose 2 colors with enough contrast for the best result.

4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle with a cable length of 80 cm / 32 inches for smaller sizes and 100 cm / 40 inches for larger sizes for the main part
Needle size C:
5.0 mm (US 8) DPNs or a circular needle with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting for colorwork around the cuffs

18 sts and 22 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches of colorwork on size C and Stockinette stitch on size B needles, in the round, after blocking
My sister Mary knit her Lumme by Sari Norund using West York Spinners Blue Faced Leicester Aran.
Other Suggested Yarns: Berroco Ultra Alpaca or Alpaca Natural or Istex Lettlopi
My Flow Hood by NORgardknitters is worked in half fisherman’s rib and makes a versatile addition to your winter accessories as it can be used as a hood and as a scarf.
It is worked in one piece, starting at one scarf tip through the hood part and ending at the other scarf tip. The shaping is done with increases and decreases along one side, and a beautiful double knitted border finishes one side while an I-cord finishes the other.
SIZES: Onesize
MEASUREMENTS:
Height of the hood (measured from the top of the hood to the bottom edge): 38 cm
(Half of the) scarf length: 90 cm
Materials:
665 m / 720 yds (1 strand) worsted or aran weight yarn
Held together with
630 m / 690 yds of mohair/silk (1 strand)
GAUGE: 10x10 cm:
16 sts x 34 rs in half fisherman’s rib on 5.00 mm (US 8) needles using 2 strands of yarn.
RECOMMENDED NEEDLES:
Circular needles 5.0 mm (US 8) - 80 or 100 cm
Suggested Yarns: Berroco Ultra Alpaca or Alpaca Natural or Istex Lettlopi held double with Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk, or Lichen and Lace Marsh Mohair
Another cozy pattern to knit is My Casual Jumper also by NORgardknitters. It is an oversized jumper with a clean and simple look in double garter stitch ridges all the way to the edges. The jumper has a high ribbed collar, long shoulder lines, narrow sleeves, and a soft drape around the body, ending with a curved hem and a slit on each side.
The jumper is worked from the top down. The collar is worked first, then increases and short rows form the neckline and shoulders. The back and front are worked separately to the bottom of the armholes. The body is then worked in the round, using short rows to avoid purling and to create the rounded hem. The sleeves are worked last.
SIZES:
XS/S (M/L) XL/2XL
The sizes are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-90 (90-100) 100-120) cm
MEASUREMENTS:
Jumper circumference for an oversized fit (just under the sleeves): 134 (146) 158 cm
Amount of positive ease in the design: 44-54 (46-56) 38-58 cm
Jumper circumference at hip level (where the slits begin): ca. 114 (126) 138 cm
Length (from the top of the shoulder to the bind-off edge): 53 (55) 58 cm
Sleeve length (from underarm to wrist): 36 (37) 38 cm
The jumper will stretch a bit in use due to the double garter stich pattern.
MATERIALS:
Version 1: 1380 (1495) 1610 m / 1512 (1638) 1764 yds of DK weight yarn
held together with equal amount of mohair
Version 2: Single strand of yarn
GAUGE: 10x10 cm:
20 sts x 38 rs in double garter stitch ridges on 4.0 mm (US 6) needles.

Version 2: circular needle 3.5 mm (US 4) (40 cm) and circular needles 4.00 mm (US 6) (40, 50, 60, 100 cm)
SUGGESTED YARNS: Version 1: Garnstudio Drops Sky or Lima held double with Drops Kid Silk or Malabrigo Silkpaca; Version 2: Garnstudio Drops Air or Lang Yarns Cloud for a colourful version
FOs and WIPs
Last Wednesday, I separated the sleeves from the body. I also added enough stitches to bring my Fie Cardigan by Kristin Drysdale from the size 38 I started with up to the 40.5 I want for the body. Have you been wondering abound that band is on the front? This cardigan will be steeked (cut) at the end and button bands picked up and knit.
I have about 8 inches knit of the body. The pattern says to knit to 12.5 or 13.75 for the larger size. I have not decided how long I want mine to be.
