Time seems to be flying by much too fast! October is half over with Halloween coming up and with Christmas only 10 weeks away! As mornings and evenings turn chilly, it's time to reach for a great cardigan. Perfect for layering through these transitional fall days when temperatures shift from cool to warm and back again.
Did you like Amy's Pressed Flowers Cardigan, Pullover, Socks, Hat, and Shawl mosaic series from a few years ago? The Paulie Cardigan by Amy Christoffers from last year is worked in an allover mosaic stitch. The fronts back and sleeves feature a motif based on a traditional quilt block. The cardigan is named after her Grandma Paulie who was a quilter and the inspiration for this pattern.

This year, Amy has the Farfalle Cardigan. The Farfalle motif pattern is charted. Mosaic colorwork is created by working 2 rows with a main color (MC) and followed by 2 rows with a contrast color (CC), slipping stitches to produce the pattern.
The Farfalle cardigan is worked in pieces and seamed. The body and sleeves are worked with allover mosaic and ribbed hems, cuffs and front band.
It is shown in rustic woolly yarns with a solid color for the MC and a self-striping multi-colored yarn for the CC. Working in pieces and seaming allows for more consistent stripes with the CC and adds a little structure to the garment. It is intended to have a relaxed, boxy jacket fit, with sleeves wide enough to be worn over layers. It has minimal shaping and an open front with a wide ribbed collar. If you prefer a narrower or wider sleeve then is suggested for your size, swap out the sleeve that gives you your preferred fit. You can add or subtract length as desired. Alterations will affect the total yardage/meterage so plan your yarn purchases accordingly.
FINISHED SIZE

Transsylvanien by Elida Virack is a slightly cropped hoodie with cable patterns and side and cuff slits. It is worked from the top down. The hood is knitted afterwards beginning at the neckline and has a cable running all along the hood. The inspiration for Transsylvanien came from the yarn it is knitted with as well as spiders and spider webs.
It is a free Ravelry download. For inspiration and free patterns you follow Svarta Fåret on Instagram.

FOs and WIPs
I enjoyed Thanksgiving with my family. This year we had 17 adults and 7 kids! I knit in the car on the way but not much while there. I am working on my Fie Cardigan by Kristin Drysdale which I am knitting with Tukuwool DK. The two contrast colours are leftover from my Aallokko by Tiina Huhtaniemi. I haven't weighed them but I still have a lot left.
I have most of the short rows completed and I am pretty close to separating the sleeves from the body.
During today's Knit Afternoon, I separated the sleeves from the body. I cast on 14 stitches under each arm to get close to the next size up because I cast on and knit the smaller size for the yoke.
