The last few days have been punctuated with severe thunderstorm warnings interspersed with hot, humid and sunny weather. It is definitely time to knit and wear some summer tees though!

Oloroso by Thea Colman has a texture, made up of charming little squares between garter stitch stripes. A light yarn, some crisp transitions, and contrasting cap sleeves highlight the pattern perfectly. Knit in a neutral shade such as this one, Oloroso is an easy-wearing tee with lots of options. The motif itself is bold and graphic - but at this gauge, it also feels delicate and subtle, and it’s one of those patterns you cannot put down once you start knitting it up.
The tee has an easy-wearing body, paired with a more fitted shoulder and cap sleeve. The V-neck is defined with a crisp edge all around the opening before it’s finished with a narrow ribbing. The sleeves are subtly shaped, and I used the garter stitch rows in the motif to ensure all the transitions are neat and intentional.
Oloroso is worked bottom up in the round, from hem to armhole, then split into pieces that are worked flat to shoulder and seamed together. Two small strips are sewn down around shoulders to back neck to finish off the neckline, before the collar and sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round to end.
As always, notes are included in the pattern on how and where you can modify your Oloroso for a personal fit.
Motif instructions are both charted and written out.

Summertide by Isabell Kraemer is worked seamlessly from the top down. The upper part of the yoke uses a beautiful combination of increases that highlights the shoulders.
First some short rows are worked back and forth to shape the neck. Then the yoke is worked in rounds to the final shoulder width. Front and back are worked separately (back and forth) to the underarm. At underarm, front and back are joined to work the tapered body top down in rounds to the short row shaping and garter stitch hem. For an optional armhole finishing, stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work a matching garter stitch edge. Neck is left raw.

FOs and WIPs

My first sleeve finished on my Kitsch Cardigan by Sedna Knitting Test Knit and part of the second sleeve knit.

I finished the second sleeve on sewed on buttons and blocked it on Monday.

Here it is finished! The sleeve length grew so to get the length that I like, I need to roll up the cuff. I used Rowan Felted Tweed for the main colour and Rowan Felted Tweed Colour for the contrast.

I frogged the sleeve 3 times on my Jilli Jumper by Anne Ventzel but it is finally going the way I want but I have a few inches to go.
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

Paulette is wearing her Step by Step Cardigan by Florence Miller, knit using Noro Kompeito held double with Rowan Alpaca Haze. The skirt is Swirl Skirt by AnneLena Mattison knit using El D Mouzakis Butterfly Super 10 and Malabrigo Arroyo.

Brandi (@thegreenbuttonjar) knit this gorgeous No Frills Sweater by PetiteKnit for her mom using her own yarns.

On Sunday, we had our latest Rigid Heddle Weaving Workshop. Two of the ladies, Tracey and Sue helped each other warping and setting up the looms they were to use.

Once they had their looms set up, they started their Orchid Blossom Scarf by Angela Tong for Berroco using two colours of Berroco Sesame.

Sandi (sandima) brought her borrowed loom and to show off her finished Orchid Blossom Scarf. Everyone's looked very different depending on what colours they chose and whether they used it as the warp or weft.

This is Janet M's Saori style woven wall hanging that is apparently very big, using a variety of yarns that she bought from me.

Margaret (Margaretknitsalot) knit this Sweet Shop Blanket by Laura Penrose using Berroco Vintage DK.

Margaret (Margaretknitsalot) knit this sweet Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann using Berroco Vintage DK left over from her Sweet Shop Blanket.

Hanna (@morningpeachy) had these crocheted pieces on display for the exhibition of student work in 2025.

SHOP UPDATE

Save the Date!
World Wide Knit and Crochet in Public Day 2026 is Saturday, June 13th but we will hold ours on Saturday, June 20th instead so mark your calendars.
We will be hosting our annual World Wide Knit (and Crochet) in Public Day from 10am until 5pm. World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.
WHAT TO BRING:
Any project to work on. I will have coffee, tea, water and some goodies usually quite a bit so bring your appetite too. Bring a chair, sunglasses and something warm in case it gets breezy! If it rains, we will move inside the shop or in the garage which we have used in the past and is much cooler than in the sun or we can sit out in the gazebo if it gets too hot as well!
We will be offering 10% off your purchases in-store and online (no code needed) as well as a draw for a door prize and more!
Happy Wednesday, Happy Knitting, Crocheting and Crafting!
