This Saturday, we will be hosting our annual World Wide Knit and Crochet in Public Day from 11am until 5pm.
World Wide Knit and Crochet in Public Day 2026 is Saturday, June 13th but we will be holding ours on Saturday, June 20th instead.
World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.
WHAT TO BRING:
Any project to work on. I will have coffee, tea, water and some goodies usually quite a bit so bring your appetite too. Bring a chair, sunglasses and something warm in case it gets breezy! If it rains, we will move inside the shop or in the garage which we have used in the past and is much cooler than in the sun or we can sit out in the gazebo if it gets too hot as well!
We will be offering 10% off your purchases in-store and online (no code needed) as well as a draw for a door prize and more!
There are always new patterns...there are so many, many talented designers! For the summer, I like knitting summer tops at least until mid-July when I want to start my fall projects! Have you started your summer knit top yet? I am going to only include one today!

Purple Moon by Isabell Kraemer is worked seamlessly in rounds from the top down. First some short rows are worked to shape the neckline. Raglan increases are then worked to the final yoke depth, where sleeve stitches are put on hold. From this point the body is worked in rounds down to the ribbing. Then sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves in rounds top down to the cuffs. No finishing required.
Two different yarn qualities are used for the stripes. Go with similar colors (as shown) or opt for a high contrast … possibilities are endless.
Using a lace weight kid silk mohair blend in combination with the heavy fingering weight linen merino blend results in “airy” and “see through” stripes, making this tee a wonderful garment for spring and late summer.

I really didn't need this big sweater taking up space in my suitcase and especially when we landed in London to a heat wave that no one expected but I finished my Jilli Jumper by Anne Ventzel.

It didn't get blocked until yesterday but it is dry and super cozy, if not exactly needed at this time of year.

I cast on my Sashiko Tee by Elenor Mortensen. I am using Julie Asselin Leizu Fingering.
KNIT, PURL CRUISE 2026
Most of you know that I was away for 3 weeks! A big shout out to Paulette who manned the store for me. It was my first trip in over 35 years other than the one to visit my daughter in BC after my granddaughter was born. We stopped in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Orkney Island, Shetland Islands, Donegal, Londonderry, Glasgow, Holyhead, and Cobh/Cork!
I have posted some highlights on Instagram and FaceBook but have a lot to go through and to try to remember where I took them!

They took a group shot of most of us when we were outside of the Blarney Woolen Mills. What an amazing place that was!

This group shot was taken after the Farewell Party.

One evening, we saw a rainbow but could only get parts of it through the windows but Darlene happened to be on an outside deck and she caught this!
Most of my photos are of the places and scenery but I got quite a few at the Farewell Party.

Giselle and her daughter Isabel cast on and started their Halibut Sweaters bu Caitlin Hunter and while Giselle didn't like her contrast colour and started over, they both have the yoke done.

Five knitting members of a family: Isabel, Nathalie, Linda, Celine and Giselle! A family vacation to remember!

Linda and Miranda of the String Theory Yarn shop in Fergus.

Here's Marguerite, Laura and although by the end of the 2 weeks, I knew most by name or face at least!

On one of the nights there was a cake night with 19 spectacular cakes, first on display and then you could get as many slices of cake...

At our very first tour in Rotterdam, we went to Stephen and Penelope!

At Stehen and Penelope, we met Stephen West!

He is so very tall next to me!

My sister and I were thrilled to meet Carol Feller, the owner of Stolen Stitches when we were in Cobh/Cork. When both of us got back into knitting after 20plus years, it was Carol's free Iced pattern that we both made a few of. I went on to do a few of her KALs. I also carry her Stolen Stitches Nua Worsted.
It was a tiny little shop but had awe inspiring samples galore!

Before the cruise, my sister and i spent a few amazing days with my friend Nita who took us all over London including Loop London.
I will post more from the trip soon! I hope to see you on Saturday for Knit and Crochet in Public Day!
Happy Wednesday, Happy Knitting, Crocheting and Crafting!
