Today was bright and sunny but it is cold out! With all the snow and wind from recent winter storms, it is the perfect weather for digging out that work in progress or starting something new. What about a pullover with floral motifs?

The Poppy Bloom Pullover by Sari Nordlund is a stranded colourwork sweater featuring a circular yoke adorned with a bold yet delicate floral motif. Inspired by blooming flowers, the colourwork creates a striking focal point while still feeling wearable and timeless.
The pullover is knitted seamlessly from the top down, beginning at the top of the colourwork yoke. Increases are incorporated directly into the stranded pattern, allowing the floral motif to flow smoothly across the yoke. Once the yoke is complete, the body and sleeves are separated at the underarm and worked individually in the round. Subtle short-row shaping at the back adds comfort and improves the fit. The sleeves also feature colourwork, echoing the yoke design and tying the whole sweater together.
Stitches for the neckband are picked up from the cast-on edge and worked in ribbing in the round. The neckband is then folded double, creating a warm, structured neckline with a beautiful finish.
For the colourwork, choose three of your favorite colors. The main color should have enough contrast with the two contrasting colors to ensure the floral pattern stands out clearly and the yoke design really shines.
The Poppy Bloom Pullover combines thoughtful construction with eye-catching colourwork, making it a rewarding project for knitters who enjoy working with charts and creating garments that are both cozy and visually striking.

3.0 mm (US2.5) for the cuffs, neckline and hem
Needle size B:
3.5 mm (US4) for the sleeves and main bodyt
Needle size C:
4.0 mm (US6) for the colourwork around the cuffs, colourwork at the top of the yoke and for the colourwork at the bottom of the yoke IF you knit colourwork tighter than for Stockinette.
Note: Always use the needle size that gets you the right gauge! I recommend knitting the colourwork using a needle one size larger than you would normally use for Stockinette stitch with the same yarn weight.
Gauge
20 sts and 26 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches of colorwork on size C and Stockinette stitch on size B needles, in the round, after blocking.

Yarn Suggestions
DK weight yarn held single such as The Fibre Co Arranmore Light, Garnstudio Drops Lima, Rowan Felted Tweed or BC Garn Semilla Melange. Above is the Poppy Bloom knit by Elainemaxseb using Semilla Melange and Rowan Felted Tweed.

Autumn Alpine by Caitlin Hunter is a midweight sweater knit from the top down featuring an interesting ribbing detail at the neckline, hem and sleeve cuffs and a Scandinavian-inspired floral colourwork yoke. Short rows are worked at the back neck for an improved fit. Optional short rows are also worked at the back hem to lower the back of the sweater a bit. Instructions are given for lengthening the body and sleeves as desired.
This is the fall/winter version of her Alpine Bloom tee.

Instead of knitting the few more inches on my Mellow Mood Sweater before knitting the rib hem, I picked up and started the right sleeve. I am knitting mine with Noro Silk Garden Sock Solo in colour S1 held double with Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk in colour 40 Pink Pearl.

The right sleeve is finished. I only worked 13 of the 16 decreases for the size I knit. On the 14th decrease, I worked 5 decreases instead of 2. I switched to 3.5 mm short circulars (I'm a loose knitter) for 20 rounds before binding off.

This week, I felted my Loafer Slippers by Monique Rae which I knit using less than one skein of Filzwolle No. 1 Maxi. I used the hot wash cycle and then the dryer but they still hadn't felted small enough so I put them through a hot wash again. I let them air dry a day before putting them in the dryer again.

I decided to sew Botties rubber soles to my slippers. The Botties Sole Kit includes 5 meters of waxed thread to connect to your slipper. I cut the thread in half so I would have the same amount to use for each slipper.

I used a blanket stitch but I ran out a little before the end so I pulled out all of the stitches to start again using a whip stitch.

I had more than enough thread to sew the soles onto the pair of slippers using the whip stitch.

Aren't they the cutest pair of slippers - with or without the Botties soles? They are my sample for the upcoming Felted Slipper Class.
