I must admit I've spent very little time outside on the deck knitting this year. Can you believe the nights are already starting to cool down and the days are getting shorter? It's the perfect time to start a cool-weather project — or finally finish one that was put away for the summer.

Claudia Quintanilla of EweKnit Toronto has released a new colourwork cardigan pattern for Rhinebeck. The Autumn Light Cardigan was inspired by her visit to Rhinebeck two years ago, where she was deeply moved by the warmth of the community and by the beautiful, tangible connection between the animals, the wool, and all of us who knit.
This sweater is my tribute to that experience. From the beginning, I felt it was a design that should be knitted in community—and what could be more meaningful than sharing it with a global community of knitters?
Our fall knit-along begins on August 26. Throughout the KAL, I'll share a new video every week to guide you through the technical parts of the sweater and compare notes as our projects grow.
There is no strict deadline, so everyone can knit at their own pace. I hope you’ll share your progress, questions, and little moments along the way, so we can encourage one another and experience the joy of knitting Autumn Light together.
Description
This cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top-down. Back shoulders are cast on separately and short rows are worked to shape shoulders. Shoulders are then joined together and back is worked to the depth of front neckline. Fronts are picked up from back shoulders and neckline is shaped. The fronts and back are joined with steek and worked in the round. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and knitted from the top-down in the round.
Sizes

1 strand of sport weight yarn and 1 strand of fluffy lace weight yarn held together throughout, for each colour.

Kits are coming soon, maybe tomorrow. Unfortunately, I am a little behind and still playing catch up after my little mishap a couple of weeks ago. There will be a special 40% off the pattern from Claudia Quintanilla of EweKnit Toronto.

I will be joining in with the KAL. Who will be joining in with me? Join in and knit this as part of this year's fall KAL or knit any fall sweater!

Ripple Loop Tee by Other Loops has a loose and relaxed fit, characterized by a distinctive rib structure with a soft, wavy effect created by drop stitches. The structure gives the t-shirt a lively expression and a beautiful drape.
The pattern contains two sleeve variations: short sleeves or long sleeves.
The t-shirt is worked from top to bottom. First the back piece is worked back and forth with short rows at the same time as the rib pattern is established. When short rows are complete, the piece is continued in the drop stitch pattern, before finally working increases for the armholes.
The shoulders are then worked individually. Short rows are also worked here, and the rib pattern is established at the same time. Then the shoulders are worked in the drop stitch pattern while increases are worked for the neck opening. Both shoulders are then joined for the front piece, and the front piece is worked in the drop stitch pattern, then finally with increases for the armholes.
Then the back piece and front piece are joined for the body, which is worked in the round. The sleeves are worked by picking up stitches along the armholes. First, they are worked back and forth with short rows and in the rib pattern, then they are worked in the round in the drop stitch pattern.
The neckband is worked in ribbing and finished with 4 rounds of double knitting and finished with Italian bind off.

On Sunday, I had one 4 inch sleeve finished on my third Sunshine Coast by Heidi Kirrmaier. Instead of just binding off as the pattern instructs, I purled one round, and then bound off purlwise.

I finished the second sleeve the same day before blocking it on Monday.

I chose to knit Sunshine Coast instead of a more intricate pattern so that nothing would detract from the busy pattern on the culottes which on me are more like palazzo pants. I used almost 6 balls of Sandnes Garn Line in the colour 1002.

On Sunday night, I cast on another tiny sweater for my granddaughter's Little Cotton Rabbits collection. This one is the Cozy Aran Sweater from the Seasonal Sweaters Collection.

I used leftover Berroco Remix Light and 2.75 mm needles. This has taken a lot longer to knit than the Top Down Cardigan from the same pattern that took less than 2 days to knit back in July.
