Betsy (betsyi) chose to knit her Aallokko test knit with a 4.5 inch mock neck instead of the turtleneck. She chose the brilliant H21 Syli as her base colour!

Lucinda of Mont Tricot had her Aallokko knit using a dark base for spectacular results.

I knit my Aallokko without a turtleneck, only 8 rounds of ribbing.

Wetlands Wrap by Ursalia Fibres Studio is a new shawl from The Fibre Co.’s Almanac Series III using Arranmore Light. 

This long elegant wrap envelopes the wearer in beauty, texture and warmth, and can be worn as a scarf open or wrapped for extra comfort. With lots of knitting interest to follow, Wetlands Wrap starts with a neat border of garter stitch with slipped stitches, before transitioning to a pattern of cables and lace stitches for the body of the wrap.

Knitted in the tweedy blend of fine Merino wool, cashmere, and silk of Arranmore Light yarn makes this a truly authentic knitting project. Multiple shades of wool nepps are used in the Donegal tweed yarn to give it its unique rustic-flecked appearance.

WIPs and FOs

I signed up to do Joji’s Fall KAL 2023 for pullovers. I am knitting the Lace & Fade Boxy using Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Salty Tales and Pet Rock.

I cast on on September 1st but ended up starting over using 3.0 mm needles instead of the 3.25 mm I started with. I like it much better with the gauge closer to the pattern gauge. I am a really loose knitter but depending on the designer I don't have to choose aa whole needle size smaller. On Wednesday, I had the back section completed to the underarm and the front started.

I am making the smallest size which has a 59 inch circumference but with the size 4 sleeve opening of 10.75. 

This one feels a little odd now that I am knitting it in the round after joining the front and the back. Most topdown knits have a round yoke or a raglan shape.

I love Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Baby Surprise Jacket. I knit this a few years ago with one ball of Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Starke 6. Enough yarn was left to make a matching Bonnet from the Leaflet and Newsletter #22 in The Opinionated Knitter. My sample has now been blocked again and gifted to my nephew's baby girl!
