Miele (that in Italian means “honey”) by Knitting for Breakfast which was released yesterday is a top-down, circular yoke sweater featuring stranded colorwork. Gradual increases are made in the yoke up to the sleeves that will be put on hold on a stitch holder or waste yarn and then picked up later. This way there will be no seams. Multi-color charts are distributed in the yoke, in the body and in the sleeves.

The yoke is made up of a single chart that contains the increases. You can knit the sweater as a cropped version (photo) but the pattern contains directions for knitting the body to a standard length. There are also instructions for 3 different sleeve lengths: short, elbow-length (in photo) or long. Choose the version you prefer! Miele comes in 10 sizes (from 83 to 167 cm 32.6 to 65.7“ bust circumference).

WIPs and FOs

I knit myself the Helsinki Sweater by Janine Bajus in 2017 from a kit that I purchased at the Woodstock Fibre Festival in 2016 with a lot of each colour leftover. I cast on a Da Crofter’s Kep by Wilma Malcolmson which is the official 2021 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern exclusively designed by Wilma as their patron for two years running back in July and then set it aside. Last week, I picked it back up again!

I am happy to say that although I thought I ran out of 227 Marjoram, the dark brown while knitting the crown, I found another partial ball. I am working the decreases of the crown now and love those pops of orange.

If you want to knit yourself one, the Da Crofter's Kep is free until the 2022 Shetland Wool Week pattern is announced.

I have been steadily working on it but I still want a few more inches for the body of my Tegna by Caitlin Hunter before dividing for the armholes.
