Austra’s Wrist Warmers by Inese Iris Liepina for Urth Yarns would make a wonderful gift along with the matching Austra’s Boot Cuffs!
The wrist warmers use slipped stitches, stranded colourwork and uses the Latvian Braid technique. The pattern is designed for Urth Uneek striped yarn.
A skein of Urth Yarns Harvest Fingering and Uneek Fingering is needed, and you have enough yarn to knit two pairs of boot cuffs, two pairs of wrist warmers or a set of Austra’s wrist warmers and boot cuffs.
Latvian mitten patterns are knit in mirror images, this indicates quality. You can wear your wrist warmers on either hand, so you can either bring energy in to yourself, or give it out depending on how you wear them.
The boot cuffs also uses the Latvian Braid technique. Latvian braids on something as simple as these boot cuffs will point either right or left.

The Fibre Co. Cirro is a sport weight brushed yarn processed in a mill in southern Peru, home of the alpaca. Cirro combines the long lustrous Suri alpaca fibre with Merino wool. The brushed effect is created by wrapping this blend around an organic cotton binder thread to achieve a light and airy yarn perfectly balanced for body and drape. Cirro creates a delightfully soft haloed fabric that is light as a feather and easily worn next to the skin. Made in Peru.
