Derecho by Alison Green is a seamless tee knitting pattern begins at the neck and is worked in one piece down. Easy eyelet stitches shape the yoke and add decoration to the neckline at the same time. Neck and lower edges are shaped using short rows.

Da Crofters Kep by Wilma Malcolmson is the official 2021 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern - Free until next year’s pattern comes out!

Knit the hat in any of the suggested colour variations, or come up with your own colour scheme. A special Facebook SWWKAL has been launched for Da Crofter’s Kep. We did the same last year for Katie’s Kep and it proved extremely popular, especially during these times when we have been so physically disconnected. We would love everyone to join in and share their hat works in progress, questions and photos.

WIPs and FOs

Off my needles is my Wilson Top by Allyson Dykhuizen knit using 161g (less than 1 cake) of Hikoo Concentric Cotton.

The pattern is very easy to follow even if I initially misread the pattern and I love that there will only be the beginning and finish ends to weave in since the whole top is knit with one cake of yarn for all sizes!

The only thing I changed was that I did not cast on the new stitches at the underarm until the round after binding off for the sleeves.

I have been working on my ADVENTuresome Wrap by Ambah O’Brien!

I am using the Koigu ADVENT Kit in Mica and am ready to start C15 of 25. Lace that hasn't been blocked doesn't look at all like it will once it is blocked to open it up but I am liking how it is coming along!

I have also been working on my Blomsterjakke by Sandnes Garn! I am at 11.5 inches from the hem and most of my cardigans I knit 13 inches so not much further before I cast off for the armholes and then working the fronts and back separately. I definitely can't work on this one unless I am concentrating on it even if the repeat is only 12 stitches by 18 rows. For the size I am doing there are 305 stitches including the 5 steek stitches so a row takes me about 20-25 minutes.

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The newest Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Any Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from May 1 to August 31, 2021. I will get a thread started soon!

Remember to post photos to the finished object (FO) thread when you finish a project during the Knit-Along so that you will be included in the next draw! We will also add the option of posting your finished project to Instagram using the #sue2knitskal so that I can find them!

Last Friday Connie(knitnut246)’s Winters Beach Cardi by Andrea Mowry was blocking...doesn’t it look amazing on her! She used The Fibre Co. Arranmore Light.

Connie (knitnut246) also finished her Odyssey Shawl by Joji Locatelli using NBK Merino/Silk Fingering and Hedgehog Fibres Sock.

Last week’s photo was still a WIP but Rosemary (@coolknitsbyrose) finished her Wilson Top by Allyson Dykhuizen. She used Hikoo Concentric Cotton.

Marie (thecatsmom) knit a pair of Basic Ribbed Socks by Debbie O’Neill.

Linda (lmcnorton) decided she didn’t like the fit of her Tiny Dancer by Mary Annarella that she had finished awhile ago. She frogged it back to the underarms and added decreases for shaping!

Sandi (sandima) knit her Manic Panic Cowl by Sarah Core using the leftovers from the Circuit Socks she knit.

VIRTUAL SOCIAL KNITTING

Virtual social knitting using the Zoom app! It has been a great way to knit together through social distancing!
