Ever since the release of Shifty, 4 years ago, Andrea has had requests for a cardigan version. Shiftigan by Andrea Mowry became available for purchase yesterday! The shifting colours and fun texture will keep you knitting “just one more row!” all the way to the end, and it is sure to be one of the most eye-catching pieces in your wardrobe! This sweater is knit from the top down, in the round, using stranded colourwork. It is knit seamlessly and then steeked.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
Main Fabric: US 4/3.5 mm –24”/60 cm to 40”/100 cm circular

Sleeves: US 5/3.75 mm –preferred needles for small circumference knitting (such as Magic Loop or DPNs)

Ribbing: US 2/2.75 mm - 16”/40 cm circular for collar, 32-40”/80-100 cm for hem and preferred needles for small circumference knitting for cuffs, plus a spare for the Tubular Bind Off.

(Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge. The Ribbing needle should be 2 US sizes smaller than the Main Fabric needle.)

SUGGESTED YARN - The Fibre Co. Amble, Kelbourne Woolens Andorra or Cascade 220 Sport for the MC, Schoppel Wolle Edition 3, Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering or Lang Yarn Mille Colori Baby for the contrast colours. Please bear in mind that this cardigan is steeked so please use a sewing machine to reinforce your steek since the suggested contrast colour yarns are all superwash.

The Icelandic lopapeysa, also known as the Icelandic sweater, is an iconic wool jumper made from native Icelandic sheep wool. Literally meaning “sweater made from unspun yarn,” the lopapeysa is traditionally made with a yoke pattern at the top of the sweater. They are made from select types of wool, including thinner Léttlopi wool, Álafosslopi wool, and unspun plötulopi wool.

Riddari by Védís Jónsdóttir for Ístex is knit in the round from the lower edge to the underarms where the body and sleeves are joined to work the yoke in the round. Round begins at left side of body. On yoke, round begins on the left side of back at the joining of body and sleeve.

This is my Oraefi by G. Dagbjort Guamundsdottir that I knit back in 2017. It is another lopi sweater knit in the similar way using Istex Léttlopi.

FOs and WIPs

Thursday morning I bound off sleeve one on my Pressed Flowers Cardigan. Now that it is knit to the intended measurements, it fits much better with the intended ease. I didn't take a photo of me trying it on before frogging back earlier this month and although it fit...it had very ease for a fitted look.

I’m working on sleeve two with 2 rows of "flowers" completed.

Ranunculus by Midori Hirose is the very first top down sweater knit by Ingrid. She came to the Magnoliia Chunky Cardigan Class last Saturday wearing it. Yarn is Garnstudio Drops Air.

Claudia (cgriffs01) finished this stunning Reflect by Kim Hargreaves that she modified to omit the buttoned neckline and add full length sleeves. Yarn is Urth Yarns Harvest Fingering.

These are the Tettegouche Mittens by Virginia Sattler-Reimer that Katherine knit for her daughter in law using West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite 4 Ply and 4 colours instead of 5.

Paulette (@psknitting50)’s first two knits of the year for her gift drawer using patterns from the books she received for Christmas.
