Favourite Patterns Friday, March 1, 2019, Issue 90: Goodbye February...Hello March!

I included Corinne by Crystal Erb Junkins in one of my earlier blog post (Issue 6). It is a cardigan knit all in one piece, from the left side to the right, with almost no seaming. The yoke and body are shaped with short rows, and the garter stitch throughout keeps the design simple but sophisticated.

Knit it with a DK weight yarn using 4.0 mm (US 6) needles or the needle size to get a gauge of 20 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch.

Now, I know it isn't really going to be spring for quite awhile yet so here are a few more cozy knits!

Do you like to keep your hands warm but your fingers free? These Point Edwards Mitts by Fairlight Fibres fit the bill! They are like sweaters for your hands! These cuffed mitts can be worn either as fingerless mitts, or with the cuffs unrolled to cover cold fingertips, including the thumbs! They are perfect for winter walks or for driving on cold mornings. These mitts use simple techniques, like knitting in the round and basic increases to create warm, dense mitts that fit the average woman’s hand. Knit them with 190 - 200 yards (174 - 183 m) of DK weight yarn using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles or the needles needed for you to get a gauge of 11 stitches = 2 inches in stockinette.

Hedgehog Mitts for Adults by Brenda Saydak are fun worsted weight mittens that are a bit more subtle than a child's version. Use a tweedy worsted weight yarn and the bumpy texture on the back will give the suggestion of a hedgehog and its spines! You will need 75 - 110 yards (69 - 101 m) of worsted weight yarn and 3.75 mm (US 5) needles for a gauge of 10 stitches and 14 rows = 2 inches in stockinette.

Hedgehog Mittens by Ekaterina Sokolova are similar and yet not! These are knit using 109 - 131 yards (100 - 120 m) of bulky weight yarn and 5.0 mm (US 8) needles for a gauge of 8 stitches and 11 rows = 2 inches and a 6.0 mm (J) crochet hook.

WIP's and FO's

This was my progress on my Monochrome Pullover by Katrin Schneider that was on my needles for my mom. I was partway finished my second sleeve!

Well now I am finished! it is washed and blocked and ready to be sent to my mom!

I used Cascade 220 Heathers in Japanese Maple and Straw Gold.

I have Kate Davies Sheep Carousel on my needles. It is the project that we are using for our colourwork and steeking class.

The Vikkel braid is pretty amazing!

I haven't worked very much on this WIP but the bottom hem is finished and I have started the right front band.

I'm sure that you won't be surprised but I cast on another project - Cedar Point by Espace Tricot that I am knit once again with Berocco Brielle. Right now I have 285 stitches on my needles and still one more set of increases before I separate the body and the sleeves.

EVENTS

The Berroco Yarn Tasting Event scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2019 - 6:30 pm - 10 pm has sold out...Well one spot left but I think I need to save a pack for myself!
