Yana by Isabell Kraemer (paid pattern) is a cozy turtleneck worked seamlessly from the top down. Knitting starts from a cast-on at the shoulders. Short rows are used to shape the shoulders, then each part is joined to work the back down to the underarm. Stitches are then picked up at the shoulders to work each front. The work is then joined at the underarm and worked in the round to the split hem with set in pockets. Sleeve stitches are picked up around each armhole and sleeves are worked from the top down in the round to the cuffs with 1x1 Rib panels. The cowl neck is worked last.

It is knit using a worsted weight yarn using 3.75 mm (US 5) and 4.0 mm (US 6) needles or as required to get a gauge of 20 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

HeleenK test knit Yana and isn’t it wonderful! Such a great pattern...I especially like the pockets!

Orosi by Carol Feller is another turtleneck that is cozy and flattering that is worked from the top down with raglan shoulder shaping. Short rows are added at the bust to be gently curved with a comfortable fit that is sure to become your favorite sweater! It is knit with a worsted weight yarn using 5.0 mm (US 8) needles for a gauge of 17 stitches and 25 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Connie knit her Orosi with Cascade 220 Solids (their Heathers would work wonderfully too as would Berroco Ultra Alpaca or any worsted).

My sister Mary also knit an Orosi and a hat to match!

Bynx by Hayley Geary (@lochknits) published this free cabled hat pattern knit using Kelbourne Woolens Scout. She designed it to be your favourite grab-and-go hat with an easy-to-memorize 6-round repeat in both chart and written instructions. This is a quick knit and makes a great first multi-cable project.

Sizing can be easily adjusted by experimenting with needle size and yarn weight. The child size will fit most ages 2-10 and the adult size will fit most ages 12+. The hat uses 130 - 210 yards (119 - 192 m) so one skein of Kelbourne Woolens Scout is plenty knit using 4.0 mm (US 6) and 5.0 mm (US 8) needles or as required to get a gauge of 22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches.

WIP's and FO's

The past couple of months I have been so super busy between the shop, a huge project from my previous boss and trying to fit some knitting in that I haven't done as much knitting as usual. I have about 5” of the body knit after the armholes on my Turtle Dove! I love how this one is turning out and how it feels. Unfortunately I will not be able to wear this one when it is finished because my mother who never wants clothing from any of us has requested two turtlenecks! I will just have to knit a second one.

This week I started designing a baby cardi with the yarn leftover from my Fairy Lights Socks because I liked the yarn so much and could see a baby something in my head! I am really loving how the yoke is coming along!
