Favourite Patterns Friday, April 12, 2019, Issue 96: It is really looking like spring even with all of the rain!

It is warm enough to wear a summery sweater one day but not the next!

The Purl Code by Isabell Kraemer is worked seamlessly from the top down starting with some short rows to shape the neck. Raglan increases are then worked to a yoke depth that is designed to be rather deep, where sleeve stitches are placed on hold. From this point the oversized body is worked in rounds to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves in rounds top down to the cuffs. Optional neck finishing is worked last. Purl stitch lines are added every now and then throughout (add purl stitches where you like/when you like/as many as you like) …you may like the idea of using the morse code alphabet..what morse code message will you hide in yours?

Faliine knit her Purl Code test knit using Madelinetosh Vintage. The pattern calls for DK weight yarn for a gauge of 20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking using 4.0 mm (US 6) needles or the needles to get the gauge. 3.75 mm (US 5) needles are the recommended needles for the neck finishing and ribbing.

Ivy Line by Yoko Johnston is my favourite kind of cardigan - a-line and lacy! It is worked seamlessly from the top down and then picking up stitches for the front yoke edge for the gathers and joins with the back at the underarms. The sleeves are worked in the round from the top down to the cuff with short-row shaping in the shoulder cap.

This one is Roko’s test knit that she knit using Madelinetosh Merino Light. Knit Ivy Line using a fingering weight yarn and 3.5 mm (US 4) needles or the needles to get a gauge of 22 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette after blocking.

Byrons Cardigan by Anne B Hanssen is a classic design; the beautiful double-moss stitch-pattern creates a lovely background for the front and center back cables. The hem, cuffs, button and neck-band are all worked in rib-pattern, as well as the sleeves. The neckline is a classic V - so nice for wearing on top of tees and shirts. The sizing includes 3 months up to 6 years and it is knit using DK weight yarn and 3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.0 mm (US 6) needles or the needles to get gauge. Gauge is 22 stitches = 4 inches in double moss st itch, washed and blocked.

WIP's and FO's

Progress earlier this week on my Barnstable shawl by Lisa Hannes. This shawl turned out to be a very quick knit, taking less than two weeks to complete!

Here it is almost finished! When I took this photo, I still had blocking and sewing in the ends to go.

This was the first time that I did mosaic knitting - it wasn't as complicated or time consuming as I thought.

Lisa's pattern which she wrote for Malabrigo for their Dos Tierras yarn is enjoyable and easy to follow. I knit my shawl exactly as written using Dos Tierras and couldn't be happier!

My Rainier by Kate Gagnon Osborn has only grown a few more inches but when I hold it against myself, I only need to knit five more inches to finish the body of my dress.

I cast on the Felted Clogs that Kathy’s class are working on using my 100% non-superwash wool stash from some of the sweaters I knit recently!
